The Art Collection
The Art Collection offers a unique cultural perspective through visual evidence of the development and proliferation of Lawn Tennis in the 19th century. The artists of that era show us early equipment, clothing styles, graphic depictions of early tournaments and colorful advertising. Together these artworks help to document the enormous popularity of the Lawn Tennis as society embraced the new game with unprecedented fervor.
Featured in this section are some fine original oils, the rare stained glass panel, several striking color lithographs, and a series of engravings from the leading publications of the day.
